Every class concept is fully demonstrated via drawing, then sewn on both styles of machines.

This class is presented as recorded classes here on Teachable, with an optional Facebook group for a dynamic supportive network of fellow quilters where students will have daily 1:1 interaction and feedback with Bethanne. The length of class with Bethanne is 2 full months, however you own the material forever, so, you can progress and practice at your own pace.

This floral Masterclass has it all!!

  • Class 2: Building Bouquets. Put all your basic floral elements together and learn to make all the common quilting shapes like wreaths, setting triangles, square units, serpentine borders, creative space filling, edge to edge designs and even a curling flower, similar to Curling Amish Feathers. (2.5 hours)
  • Class 3: Full Florist. Expand your design skills away from strictly realistic bouquets. Learn to manipulate your floral elements into grids, dense blended texture meander background quilting, and elaborate William Morris inspired border designs, both as "stamps" and as long integrated border treatments. (3 hours)
  • Class 4: LIVE Designing with Florals. Students are invited to submit their own quilts or ideas for an exciting live class in which Bethanne rapid-fires creates full quilt designs with florals. This design class solidifies the class content into practice. (2 hours) Additional time (1+ hours) will be devoted to a Live Question and Answer session, although students can ask questions anytime, of course!
  • Immediate Access Bonus Class: Adding Color with Derwent Inktense Effects. Bethanne will demonstrate numerous techniques for adding color to fabric as well as creating watercolor background fabrics. A supply list will be given with this unit, however students are encouraged to watch class before investing in art supplies. (1 hour)
  • Enjoy 1:1 support for two full months, giving you ample time to practice all your floral skills and get feedback if necessary.
  • Each class is accompanied by printable pdf handouts and resource links, totaling more than 40 pages of class workbook and resource material.

Explore filling mandala shapes, grids, blended floral backgrounds, lovely themed floral serpentine borders, and even coloring your quilts! You will be creating floral block motifs, endless floral borders, edge to edge meander designs and elaborate William Morris inspired tapestry borders. The course starts on 9/25/2024. You have access to the videos and class material forever here on Teachable. The active feedback of the optional Facebook 1:1 group ends on 11/25/2024, but is still viewable forever. The bonus class begins immediately
How long do I have access to the course?
You have access to all the materials of the course on teachable forever. The optional Facebook group coaching component is from 9/25/2024 to 11/25/2024. However, after the Facebook group is closed, you can still access it forever to look at any accumulated comments and feedback, forever. It is only closed to new comments and content.
Is this course refundable?
If you are unhappy with this course after the first lesson, you will be refunded a pro-rated amount to withdraw from the class and be refunded 2/3 the purchase price, which reflects the 3 core floral educational class units. Please request to withdraw not later then 72 hours after the class becomes available. You will be removed from all class resources.
What if my life becomes busy and I don't have time to practice ? Can I be refunded?
No. Fortunately, the class is available to you forever, as are any comments and feedback within the optional Facebook group as well. You can come back to your floral quilting when it best suits you.
What kind of sewing machine do I need?
You can freemotion machine quilt on your sit down or longarm machine! Bethanne will fully demonstrate all quilting motifs first with drawing, then sewing on both a longarm and a sit down machine.
What level of freemotion machine quilter should I be to take this class?
I am able to work with a variety of skill levels, and the content of class can me made more and less complex to fit your needs. However, you should be familiar with freemotion machine quilting, feel comfortable with your machine, and have smooth control as there will be some backtracking from time to time. I feel very confident beginners to advanced quilters will enjoy class.
What supplies will I need?
As a process quilting class, it is all about the practice. The more you practice the better and easier free motion quilting becomes. I recommend quilting all aspects of each of the 3 quilting classes for a minimum of 2 hours after each unit, and try all the lessons, filling 1.5- 2 yards of quilt sandwiches (or longarm equivalent) for each lesson. The Derwent color effects class is a bonus and has a supply list attached to it...however I recommend NOT investing until after class to be sure you enjoy the concept. If you were to purchase supplies, Derwent pencils and sticks can be purchased individually for about $1.75 each, or in sets of various sizes up to $120, then a fabric activator, and paint brush, for a total of about $15 additional dollars.
Is class closed captioned for hearing accessibility?
Yes it is
Will I be charged tax on a digital class? Why?
US and global laws are changing quickly and vary state by state with regards to sales tax on digital items. The Teachable paying platform will automatically charge the appropriate tax as it applies to an individual state's laws or country tax code. Allowing a large platform like teachable to handle changing tax laws keeps me from needing to file in multiple states or be exposed to audit. If you feel the tax burden is in error, please contact me before purchase.

Curious what the technology of class looks like?

See the kind of quilting and drawing views you can expect in class...

A note for returning students...I have taught aspects of floral quilting in other classes or at national venues. If you have taken my 2 hour class, Freehand Florals, you will find class unit #1, Floral Basics to be a review, with additional information, and all new illustrations. This class however is a very deep dive into the art of floral quilting, with a lot of exciting and elaborate floral mastery you would not have been exposed to.

Course Curriculum

What have other students had to say about Bethanne's Teachable/ Facebook integrated masterclasses?

Lorie Quinn…

What can I say about Bethanne Nemesh? One of the best teachers I’ve ever come across. I took her class and was amazed and delighted in the attention to detail in her teaching — the way she is able to break things down in manageable chunks that build with every class. The shear amount of thought and time she puts into her classes is incredible and is worth far, far more than the price she charges. She was always available to answer questions or help with problems and that in itself is worth the price of admission! I was trepidatious at first, but I can say that the amount of information, knowledge and material that I received far exceeds the price of the class. It is an absolute bargain. Bethanne is a delightful person, a wonderful teacher, an amazing artist and I can’t wait to take her next class.

Shelly DeyHay-Turner…

I could not be more impressed. Bethanne is a teacher extraordinaire. Her ability to breakdown various designs into achievable quilting components is nothing short of magical. She is a generous and knowledgeable instructor who goes the extra mile to ensure all her students, regardless of skill level, are comfortable and confident in their learning journey. I now have a repertoire of highly creative quilting that I use frequently and with the greatest of confidence. I highly recommend Bethanne’s classes and I am sure you will be as impressed as all of us who have had the pleasure of being one of her many students! Run…don’t walk to her next class!

Lorri Wurtzler…

Being a teacher myself I have high standards for a great teacher and Bethanne hits that mark. Bethanne really understands the software she uses and presents well in the online teaching environment. Bethanne has completely thought out the teaching agenda from starting us with a quilt idea/pattern so that we are all starting from the same place. Then breaks down each session with quilting designs that are similar and provides handouts to support each lesson. She provides tips and tricks all along the way that shows me she is listening and responding to all her students questions. I love her attention to all the details and can’t wait to see what class is next.
